Tea for two…

Seriously, is there anything more civilised than a proper afternoon tea? It’s not just the sheer indulgence – lashings of jam and all your favourite treats on one plate (although that’s a big part of it, obviously!) – but it’s about the ritual too; the careful preparation of the tea and the classic presentation on a 3-tiered cake stand.  It’s restful and indulgent and fun; a nod to those sensible Victorian dames enjoying tea with friends and acquaintances every day to ward off the hunger pangs between breakfast and dinner.  All very civilised and a tradition we are more than happy to get behind!

With that in mind we are delighted to announce the introduction of our very own afternoon tea to be served on the rooftop.  Chef João Silva has created a happy marriage between the best of British (think scones and finger sandwiches) and the best of Portuguese (pastel de nata…).  It’s heaven on a plate – well, technically a tier of plates  – and is accompanied by your choice of tea (of course!), coffee or a deliciously cold glass of bubbly.

Depending on the weather, you can choose to eat in the main restaurant or outside on the terrace. With views like this, you can imagine which option is proving the most popular…

Tea will be served every afternoon from 3-6pm, €9 pp or €14 if you opt for the glass of bubbly.  To book: lumirooftop@thelumiares.com or call direct +351 211 160 210.

We’ll leave you with the wise words of  Henry James (The Portrait of a Lady);  ‘There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.’

We couldn’t agree more!
